Mont Blanc Highline
A circular traverse beneath Western Europe's highest summit, crossing balcony trails, glacial valleys and three national borders.

Worldwide mountain expeditions
Guided high-trail journeys, alpine ascents and scenic adventures led by certified mountain teams across the world's great ranges.
Who we are
Alta Via designs and leads mountain journeys for travellers who want more than a viewpoint. From valley trailheads to glaciated ridgelines, every itinerary is mapped, paced and supported by experienced local guides.
We work in small groups, move at a human rhythm and choose lodges and camps that sit lightly on the landscape. Our planning team handles logistics, permits and acclimatisation so you can keep your eyes on the horizon.

The Alta Via approach
Altitude is earned, not rushed. We build acclimatisation into every schedule, brief each stage in advance and adapt the route to the weather and the group in front of us.
Select a trail
A curated map of multi-day journeys, from forested approach trails to high alpine traverses. Choose by character, distance and grade.
A circular traverse beneath Western Europe's highest summit, crossing balcony trails, glacial valleys and three national borders.
Pale spires and high meadows on the classic alta via paths, with mountain refuges each night and panoramic ridge walking.
A quiet frontier route through cirques and lake basins, away from the crowds and rich in wildlife and shepherd trails.
A high-altitude expedition combining ancient stone paths with an optional non-technical summit day above the cloud line.

First light
There is a moment before sunrise when the whole range turns to ember. We time the hardest days to meet it — boots on snow, headlamps off, the valley still asleep below.
Inside a journey
Meet your guides, fit equipment and walk a gentle warm-up trail while we review the route, weather window and safety plan.
Steady ascent through forest and pasture to alpine huts, building rhythm and acclimatising before the demanding stages.
The heart of the journey: exposed balcony trails, glacier crossings on rope where needed, and the broadest views of the trip.
A long, scenic descent to the trailhead, followed by a shared meal to mark what the group has crossed together.

Why travel with us
Every journey is led by qualified mountain leaders trained in navigation, glacier travel and wilderness first response.
We cap group sizes so the pace stays personal, the trails stay quiet and decisions can flex to the conditions of the day.
We favour local lodges and guides, carry out what we carry in, and design routes that respect fragile high-mountain habitats.
